Overview

TIDA-00711 Design is a compact, low cost, high efficiency, dual output, 50W, isolated DC-DC converter solution designed for use in Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS), energy storage banks and battery powered systems  that require regulated and isolated power for internal operation. This reference design is an isolated SEPIC converter implemented using the wide input, current mode controller LM5020. The design is low cost due to minimal external component count compared to standard flyback designs realized with 384x series controllers. Additionally, The design operates at high switching frequency of 300kHz, resulting in smaller magnetics and high power density solution. TIDA-00711 design has built-in protections for output overcurrent, and input under-voltage protection. The hardware is tested to meet conducted emission norm EN55011/22 Class A.

Features
  • Designed to power a wide range of applications using batteries - li-ion, li-poly and lead acid, in the voltage range of 18V to 60V
  • High operating efficiency of 92% at 24VDC and 90% at 48VDC
  • High power density solution (40 x 48 x 20 mm) aids to optimize the form-factor of end equipment platforms
  • Dual output: 12V/3A and 12V_ISO/1.0A with tight load regulation of < ± 1% and cross regulation < ± 3%
  • Robust supply protected for output short circuit, over load and input under voltage lockout
