      [DING]

Let us look at the part 2. Before we get into the details of F28x7x FMEDA tabs and it's contents, here is a generic work flow for a safety analysis involving an MCU.

Safety analysis starts with computing base fit rate which is the one by parameters pertaining to the application specific environment, for example mission profile. Depending on the MCU resources used in application, the magnitude of this figure is determined. Applicable safety mechanisms and their effectiveness, also known as diagnostic coverage contributing to the reduction of failures, are considered in computation.

Finally, as a result detailed report of failure rates for each failure mode is computed. And as a summary, hardware metrics, SPFM, and LFM along with PMHF are computed. The results can be compared against allocated hardware metric targets for the MCU.

F28x7x FMEDA allows user customization of mission profile and essential parameters affecting the base failure rate. The user can make a selection of parts and sub-parts of the MCU used in application and also applicable safety mechanisms to detect the failures. Optionally, user can also associate additional and custom safety mechanisms for failure modes and define their diagnostic coverage values. With an immediate feedback of selections and customizations appearing in the results tab, user can complete the safety analysis in an efficient way.

In summary, F28x7x FMEDA provides customization of FMEDA on and above basic contents required for application level safety analysis.

This is how TMS320F28x7x FMEDA is organized in multiple tabs in the spreadsheet. As you may have noticed, each tab displayed bears a distinct color, mainly blue and green. Blue color tabs and fields inside this FMEDA indicate inputs are required by the user. Green color tabs is a place where the results or output of the worksheet is available. Blue color tabs have fields that the values can be entered by the user. The default values of these fields can be changed based on the user application. Green color tabs shows the results of the computation based on the user choices made in the blue tabs.

The blue tabs which allows the user to enter the custom values are FIT Estimation, Product Function Tailoring, Safety Mechanism Tailoring, Pin Level Tailoring, and Custom Diagnostics. The green color tabs which gives users access to the results are classified as mainly Summary and Detailed. The results structure is for ISO26262 and IEC61508 functional safety standards. The underlying data used in producing the results of all the standards is relevant. The computation done as required by the respective standards. We will go over more details on the tabs next few slides.

This is the end of part 2.
