In this video, you will learn how easy it is to navigate and use the OrCAD Capture in the PSpice workspace to create and test your circuits. To see what's available within the workspace, you'll first need to create a new project. Name the project as Workspace Walkthrough and save it and the location of your choice. This activates the workspace where you can create your schematic and run PSpice simulations.

Let's get started by drawing a circuit for a simple non-inverting amplifier. You can place various components on the schematic. Simply access these components from place in the toolbar menu. From the Options, select Resistor and place it on the schematic. Access the modeling app to place any type of source for your circuit. Select DC Source from the Options and give it a value of 12 folds.

Now configure assigned source for transient analysis and place it on the schematic. Go to PSpice part search to access components from Texas Instruments and all other inbuilt models. You can search for models by category and place them on the schematic. Or search by its model number or even just by any model detail that you were looking for. To place a ground for the circuit, use the shortcut key G on your keyboard. Now quickly connect the schematic together.

To view the PSpice model for any part, select it, then right click and select View PSpice Model. To view the datasheet of a TI component, select it, then right click and select Open Product Page from the Options. If you want to analyze your circuit, you will first have to create a new simulation profile. Click on this icon and name it Transient. Enter 10 milliseconds as the total runtime of the transient analysis simulation. Then add voltage markers here to plot the output and input voltage waveforms.

Now you can run the simulation. Waveforms are displayed corresponding to where the markers are placed on the schematic. To enable cursors in PSpice, click on the toggle on and off icon. You can also edit the current simulation setup from the PSpice GUI and rerun the simulation with the new settings. The simulation output text file can be viewed here.

To open a reference design of any TI component that can be readily used within PSpice, right click on it and select this option. You can choose from any one of the existing simulation profiles associated with this project, make it active, and run the simulation. In addition, switching between multiple project schematics and files is easy.

To set your choice for the application and schematic theme, go to Preferences under Options. The Project Manager tab organizes all the resources related to your project. And finally, the PSpice Resources tab contains all the simulation files, model libraries, and your project simulation profiles. Now you can successfully navigate and use the OrCAD Capture and PSpice environment to build and simulate your circuits.
