USB Type-C is taking over as the universal connector across the world. This adoption is being seen in applications, such as vacuums, power drills, hair dryers, speakers, and even small kitchen appliances. There are a vast number of cables that supply power to these devices today. Moving to a universal connector such as USB Type-C will help reduce the e-waste generated from proprietary charging cables.
This smart speaker uses a barrel jack connection for power. Converting a barrel jack connection to USB-C is as easy as one, two, three. The first step you take is to cut the barrel jack cord and strip the wires. Then, insert them into our TPS25730 Evaluation Module. Step two, check the specific voltage and current requirements of the device and adjust your EVM settings to match the device. Step three, after the power levels are aligned, we connect the power supply to our EVM and watch as the speaker is powered on.
Our USB Power Delivery Controller meets the latest USB standards to enable you to power your systems up to 100 Watts. And that's it. As you can see, the TPS25730 is an easy way to transition your designs to USB-C. Learn more at ti.com.
