As next generation power switches develop, i.e. SiC and GaN, systems need higher switching frequency/density. Using these advancements can sacrifice system robustness since these new power semiconductors can have over twice the dv/dt and over 5x the di/dt during turn on/turn off relative to conventional switches.
This video:
- Explains these challenges with bench waveform measurement comparison
- Identifies isolated gate driver benefits
- Deep dives dv/dt (CMTI) and di/dt for isolated gate drivers
