Follow the input overvoltage precautions as outlined in the Section 9.3.2.1 section. Despite external current limit provided for the input pins, if an overvoltage condition occurs on an unused channel, the overvoltage channel may crosstalk to the measurement channel. One solution is to externally clamp the inputs with low-forward voltage diodes as shown in Figure 10-11. The external diodes shunt the overvoltage fault current around the ADC inputs. Be aware of the reverse leakage current in the external clamp diodes in the application.
