This design example shows the construction of an analog output module capable of current and voltage outputs for a programmable logic controller (PLC). This example combines several circuit elements to create a subsystem that can support most analog output applications. This application requires supplies of 3.3 V and ±15 V. The circuit output sets a precision voltage or current with an accuracy of less than 0.1% full scale range (FSR) of total error at room temperature after calibration. The high integration in the system allows for a compact circuit, making this device an excellent choice for analog outputs for ac inverters and servo drives where space is a concern. Error flags and output load monitoring capability enable a robust design. Figure 8-2 shows the schematic diagram for the analog output module.
