8.3.10.4.3 Thermal Protection in Battery-Only Mode

The BQ25620 monitors the internal junction temperature TJ to avoid overheating the chip and limits the IC junction temperature in battery-only mode. The device has thermal shutdown to turn off the BATFET when IC junction temperature exceeds TSHUT. The fault bit TSHUT_FLAG is set to 1 and TSHUT_STAT transitions to 1. The BATFET is re-enabled when IC temperature is TSHUT_HYS below TSHUT, and TSHUT_STAT transitions to 0.
