8.3.5 Fail-Safe Logic

The TMUX7212M supports Fail-Safe Logic on the control input pins (SEL1, SEL2, SEL3, and SEL4) allowing for operation up to 44 V, regardless of the state of the supply pin. This feature allows voltages on the control pins to be applied before the supply pin, protecting the device from potential damage. Fail-Safe Logic minimizes system complexity by removing the need for power supply sequencing on the logic control pins. For example, the Fail-Safe Logic feature allows the select pins of the TMUX7212M to be ramped to 44 V while VDD and VSS = 0V. The logic control inputs are protected against positive faults of up to 44 V in powered-off condition, but do not offer protection against negative overvoltage conditions.
