9.3.10 Frequency Spread Spectrum

To reduce EMI, the TPS62932, TPS62933, TPS62933P, and TPS62933O introduce frequency spread spectrum. The jittering span is typically Δfc = ±6% of the switching frequency with the modulation frequency of fm = fSW / 128. The purpose of spread spectrum is to eliminate peak emissions at specific frequencies by spreading emissions across a wider range of frequencies than a part with fixed frequency operation. Figure 9-7 shows the frequency spread spectrum modulation. Figure 9-8 shows the energy is spread out at the center frequency, fc.
