PRODUCTION DATA.
The LF298-MIL device is rated for a typical supply voltage of ±15 V. To achieve noise immunity as appropriate to the application, it is important to use good printed-circuit-board layout practices for power supply rails and planes, as well as using bypass capacitors connected between the power supply pins and ground. All bypass capacitors must be rated to handle the supply voltage and be decoupled to ground. TI recommends to decouple each supply with two capacitors; a small value ceramic capacitor (approximately 0.1 μF) placed close to the supply pin in addition to a large value Tantalum or Ceramic (≥ 10 μF). The large capacitor can be shared by more than one device if necessary. The small ceramic capacitor maintains low supply impedance at higher frequencies while the large capacitor will act as the charge bucket for fast load current spikes at the op amp output. The combination of these capacitors will provide supply decoupling and will help maintain stable operation for most loading conditions.
