Driver Overvoltage and Overcurrent Protection

The THVD24x2 drivers are protected against any DC supply shorts in the range of -70 V to +70 V. The devices internally limit the short circuit current to ±250 mA to comply with the TIA/EIA-485A standard. In addition, a fold-back current limiting circuit reduces the driver short circuit current to less than ±5 mA if the output fault voltage exceeds |±25 V|.

If the junction temperature exceeds the TSHDN threshold due to excessive power dissipation, the devices feature thermal shutdown protection that disables the driver and the receiver
