10.4.5.4 Dedicated Charging Port (DCP) Mode (TPS25831-Q1 Only)

A DCP only provides power and does not support data connection to an upstream port. As shown in the following sections, a DCP is identified by the electrical characteristics of the data lines. The TPS25831-Q1 only emulates one state, DCP-auto state. In the DCP-auto state, the device charge-detection state machine is activated to selectively implement charging schemes involved with the shorted, divider3 and 1.2-V modes. The shorted DCP mode complies with BC1.2 and Chinese Telecommunications Industry Standard YD/T 1591-2009, whereas the divider3 and 1.2-V modes are employed to charge devices that do not comply with the BC1.2 DCP standard.
