12.3 Power Supply Coupling and Bulk Capacitors

The device is designed to operate from an input voltage supply range from 4 V to 36 V. This input supply must be well regulated. If the supply voltage in the application is likely to reach negative voltage (for example, reverse battery in automotive applications ), a forward diode must be placed between the power supply and VIN pins. The BUCK1 output voltage is the recommended input supply for the BUCK2 regulator and BOOST converter. Select the input filter capacitors based on the recommendation in Section 12.2.
