8.2.1.2.8 Input Capacitor Selection

Because a boost converter has continuous input current, the input capacitor senses only the inductor ripple current. Equation 31 and Equation 32 calculate the input capacitor values.

For this design, to meet a maximum input ripple of 60 mV requires a minimum 4-µF input capacitor with ESR less than 52 mΩ. Select a 10-µF X7R ceramic capacitor.
