9.2.4 Configuration Options

The TVS1400 can be used in either unidirectional or bidirectional configuration. shows bidirectional usage to protect an input. By placing two TVS1400's in series with reverse orientation, bidirectional operation can be utilized which will allow a working voltage of ±14 V. TVS1400 operation in bidirectional will be similar to unidirectional operation, with a minor increase in breakdown voltage and clamping voltage. The TVS3300 bidirectional performance has been characterized in the TVS3300 Configurations Characterization. While the TVS1400 in bidirectional configuration has not specifically been characterized, it will have similar relative changes to the TVS3300 in bidirectional configuration.
