Extending the Architecture to Implement Higher Channel Count Systems

Fundamentally, the quantity of transmitters and switches to use is up to the designer; it can depend on the quality of the ultrasound image needed and other design constraints such as power and area mentioned previously. Additional factors can include routing layer count and PCB size, as well as thermal considerations for compact and enclosed devices.
