The horizontal scaler supports non-linear scaling to maintain the same aspect ratio for inner picture while stretching picture edges to fill the required resolution when capturing a 4 × 3 picture and fetching it as a 16 × 9 to memory. Non-linear scaling parameters are set with VIP_CFG_SC4[30:28] CFG_NLIN_ACC_INIT_U and VIP_CFG_SC4[26:24] CFG_LIN_ACC_INC_U registers. When setting up a non-linear scaling application, the inner picture is defined as the center square portion of the image with width and height equal to the height of the source image. Remaining side regions are then scaled non-linearly. Figure 11-87 shows a non-linear scaling case.
