Digital InOut nFAULT/nDRVOFF (DRV8161)

Figure 7-8 shows the structure of the open-drain output and input pin. In the DRV8161 device variant, two functions nFAULT and nDRVOFF are achieved by sharing one device pin, nFAULT/nDRVOFF. The open-drain output requires an external pullup resistor to function correctly. If a fault condition is detected, the device activates Open Drain buffer, and nFAULT/nDRVOFF pin is driven low. The nFAULT/nDRVOFF pins is internally connected to Gate Drive Shutdown logic, and the gate drive outputs are shutdown (pull-down) if the nFAULT/nDRVOFF pin low.
