Verify the capacitive coupling
clamp shield is properly connected to ground
Verify the cable is straight
without any loop when clamping the cable
Verify DUT and LP is far away
from the capacitive coupling clamp
Use Shielded cable for better EMI
performance
CAT6 cables have better
performance than CAT 5E cables
Similar to ESD test, verify both
DUT and Link partner’s connector ground have clean or low impedance return paths
to earth ground
Most of the noise is
directly injected into cable ground during EFT testing. The cables
shield ground is in contact with the RJ45 shield. Therefore, a clean
return path between RJ45 shield to earth ground can help with EFT
performance
If the RJ45 shield is not
able to connected to earth ground for the application, connect the
shield or connector ground directly to a metal or conducted case to
provide a better path for EMI noise to flow and radiate outwards
