Abstract

This paper examines the significance of specialized hardware accelerators for real-time control systems. The document emphasizes the role of the processing phase of a real-time control loop and explains the role of different hardware accelerators integrated into high-performance microcontrollers (MCUs) that assist in reducing the overall latency of the system. Enhanced floating-point capabilities, integrated trigonometric and control-law accelerators, and various techniques for optimizing communication are discussed.
