6.5.1.3 Minimum Mechanical Load

It is also important to have as minimum mechanical load as possible. This is because the identification runs a series of motor tests, some of them in open loop. These open loop tests do not have the ability to produce maximum torque on the motor's shaft hence it is required to have the motor's shaft with as little load as possible, knowing that no load is ideal. Section 7.10.1.1 covers some guidelines to follow when identifying motors when the mechanical load cannot be removed, such as in a compressor or direct drive washing machine.
