This configuration uses a third wire or connection for RLD. The common mode voltage is provided to the inputs using the RLD terminal shown in Figure 2-10. The signals coming from the electrodes are directly connected to the inputs of the AFE. The body connections should happen with the metal pads.
For use with dry electrodes where the skin-electrode contact impedance may be high, care should be taken to ensure that the input impedance of the ECG signal chain (including the contribution from external interface components) should be very high. Refer to the latest AFE4900 data sheet for recommendations.
In both configurations, the series protection resistors and capacitors should be selected based on the low-pass filer cut-off requirement. The body connection should happen through 3-pin ECG cable via connector J4.
