Overview

The OPT3001DTSQ1EVM is a platform for evaluating the performance of the OPT3001-Q1, an automotive digital ambient light sensor (ALS) with high-precision human-eye response, which can be used in various lighting conditions as well as behind various cover materials.

The OPT3001DTSQ1EVM consists of two printed circuit boards (PCBs). The first is the OPTMBEVM board that contains a USB interface to communicate with a computer running a GUI evaluation software, a socket for plugging in a coupon board, and an MSP430 microprocessor that acts as a bridge between the PC and the device plugged into the socket. This board also provides power to the light sensor and sends and receives appropriate digital signals between the light sensor and the PC. The second board is the OPT3001-Q1 coupon board, which contains the OPT3001-Q1 and a decoupling capacitor. The coupon board plugs into the motherboard allowing quick evaluation using our software when plugged in and allows the coupon to be removed for direct access to the device pins for evaluation in your system.
