Table 9-11 shows the program flow that the host MCU must execute for reading the IO from a device. The host selects the device it wants to communicate with and issues the GPIO READ function and the device returns the IO read register value along with the CRC for the byte. The device at this point shall again sample the IOs. If the host issues a bus reset during the sampling time, the device shall terminate the update process and it will hold the last sampled value. If the host continues, then the new sampled values shall be sent back by the device.
