25.6 Samplestamp Generator

The samplestamp generator is used to start input and output DMA operation. The samplestamp generator is also used to synchronize2S modules over a wireless network, so correct and fixed audio latency can be achieved. Synchronization over a wireless network is an optional feature that can be bypassed.

The samplestamp generator is enabled and is running while I2S:STMPCTL.STMP_EN = 1. Counter and capture registers are reset when software writes I2S:STMPCTL.STMP_EN = 0.

Figure 25-11 shows a simplified block diagram of the samplestamp generator:

  • The lower part of the diagram is related to start-up of input and output DMA.
  • The upper part of the diagram is related to RFCORE event capture for I2S module synchronization.
