Analog Input Front-End

Analog front end (AFE) is the electrical interface to the factory other equipments. It might convert input voltage/currents to digital values for the CPU module or take CPU module digital instructions to drive current or voltages. The AFE might be built with ADC, DAC, load switches (high or low side) or with input current limiter.
